Buttercup, Still Waiting, Still Hopeful

Buttercup is only 2 years old.

She has already done everything right.

She came to us as a stray. She trained through the Colorado Department of Corrections Inmate Canine Training Program and graduated. She learned. She listened. She bonded.

She was adopted.

And then she came back.

She returned through no fault of her own, simply because her energy and spirit needed a different kind of match.

Buttercup is not a quiet couch decoration. She is loyal, protective, playful, and deeply connected to her people. She forms strong bonds with “her person.” Once she trusts you, she is yours completely.

She loves to run. She loves to play.

But more than anything, she loves human companionship.

She has had several “almosts.”

Several people who came close.

Several moments that looked like they might be her forever.

And then they weren’t.

She is still here.

Still waiting.

Still watching the gate.

Our volunteers see how special she is. They see the way she leans into connection. They see how deeply she bonds. They see a dog who is ready to belong.

And she is ready.

Ready for her person.

Ready for a forever home where her name is spoken with love.

Ready to run in a yard that belongs to her, then come inside and rest at someone’s feet.

Ready to stop being the one who waits.

She needs someone steady. Someone active enough to enjoy her spirit and patient enough to let trust deepen at its own pace. The right fit – for her energy, her loyalty, and her heart.

If you cannot be her person, please help her find them.

Share her story.

Post her photo.

Tell someone about her.

The right home may be just one share away.

Let’s make sure her next “almost” becomes forever.
