✨ Tails of Love: Nova Lynn ✨

✨ Tails of Love: Nova Lynn ✨

The one who howls with joy, hates vegetables, sunbathes like a queen, and sleeps under the blankets every single night.

Every now and then, a dog doesn’t just find a home – they find their people, their family, the place where their little heart and paws finally belong.

That’s exactly what happened the day Ariana walked through the shelter doors and met a wiggly white pup who would soon be named Nova Lynn.

❤️

“She adopted me as soon as I walked in.”

“I first saw her on a Facebook post. She resembled a dog from my childhood. I knew I wanted to meet her as soon as possible. She adopted me the moment I walked into the shelter and she jumped up to lick me. She was so excited.”

From that tail-wagging greeting, it was already decided.

Nova went home that very day. And like all good love stories, the first chapter was full of nervous excitement and quiet magic.

“Her first night she was hesitant but followed me everywhere. I gave her a bath – she didn’t enjoy that – but she was so patient. My heart melted at bedtime when I picked her up and put her under the blankets with me and she cuddled right away.”

Nova adjusted quickly, claiming her spot under the covers, beside the kids, and smack dab in the center of her new mom’s heart.

💫 A Personality All Her Own

“Nova has the sweetest personality. She just wants love and affection. She loves zoomies with new squeaky toys. At first she didn’t bark or use her voice for about a month. But now she howls her excitement all the time. She definitely has a lot to say and I absolutely love it!”

And like every truly beloved family member, she’s got quirks:

🛑 Loud noises? No thank you.

🎀 Hair clips? Public enemy number one.

🥦 Veggies? Absolutely not.

🥐 The bakery aisle? Yes, every sniff, please.

🚗 Car rides? Terrifying at first. Now she jumps in like she has errands.

🐝 Flies? Consider them handled.

👒 Men in hats? Suspicious. Except Papa – Papa is sacred.

“She gets jealous when mom crochets. Every squeaky toy is always for her.”

To her family, she isn’t just a dog. She’s one of the kids. A snuggler. A confidante. A goofy joy-bringer. A piece of their hearts they didn’t know was missing.

🌙

“Before Nova Lynn, we didn’t know what our family was missing.”

Chris describes it perfectly:

“Before Nova Lynn, we didn’t know what our family was missing. She was labeled a rescue, but she in turn has rescued us. She’s the most loving dog, bringing endless joy and creating such a warm and adventurous atmosphere.

“She loves walks and nature; she has energy to rival that of a star, yet she is the most content when she’s sunbathing and cuddling with her humans. Nova Lynn has adopted us and become a sibling to two boys and a sister.”

Despite the uncertainty of her past, Nova surprised them all. There was worry about how she would do with another dog – but she bloomed into the gentlest big sister to the tiniest of pugs, Sullie.

“They are inseparable. It’s so heartwarming to see that her past didn’t prevent her from bonding with another pup. I could go on and on with stories from her first year—but instead, I’ll share a picture of the happiest baby ever.”

🐾 A Forever That Feels Like Home

“Nova is exactly like another one of my children. She had a hard start to life, and I always want her to know and feel loved. She is truly a gift.”

Nova Lynn is gentle, goofy, loyal, and loud when she’s excited. She is living proof that pit bull dogs are full of sweetness, and that adopting a dog doesn’t just change their life – it changes yours too.

“Adopting a puppy or adult dog is a beautiful thing… They may take more patience and care than average, but they are so worth it. All they ever want is your love, your care, and maybe a treat or two. If you ask my kids… maybe four treats!”

🌟 The Magic of Being Seen

Nova’s story began with a simple Facebook post – a moment of visibility that became the beginning of forever. We’re deeply grateful to our Facebook administrator, whose dedication and consistency help dogs like Nova find the families meant for them.

But stories like Nova’s do more than warm the heart. They show nervous families what’s possible when you give a shelter pet a chance. They ease fears about “rescue animals,” highlight the transformation that comes from love and patience, and remind our volunteers, staff, and donors why their work matters. Your story might be the reason someone chooses to adopt, foster, donate, or even share the post that leads a homeless pet to their forever people.

If you’ve adopted from the Raton Humane Society and have a Tail of Love waiting to be told, we would be honored to share it. Whether it’s a few sentences or a full chapter, your story helps shine a light on the beautiful lives of rescue pets.

They’re Tails of Love.

And the world needs more of them.
